A Little Slice of Heaven

I was sitting on my porch this morning.

It is finally beginning to feel like spring.

A gentle breeze was blowing.

Birds were chirping.

The sun was shining upon my face.

All of this with the serene serenade of flowing water from the fountains out in the courtyard down below.

My thoughts were….This is heaven….and all I need is a hammock, pillow and blanket right about now.

I need to get a hammock this year. It just has to happen.

This is the first time in a long time that I am not at work when all of this is going down.

It is just the recharge my mind, body and spirit needed.

I am getting ready to go into work now armed with the knowledge that this is the LAST weekend of tax season.

Woo. Hoo.

I’d WOO HOO but I am too tired.

I’ve just got to bust booty for five more days and then…..it is back to getting off at noon on Fridays until November 30th!

Ok, now that got me excited.

I am going to drive with the top down on my car this morning and get in another slice of heaven on my way into work.

I hope you have a great weekend, and I really hope you have done your taxes already.

It would be such a shame if both of us have to work on tax stuff this weekend! hahaha

The Home Stretch

My office is closed the day after April 15th.

THANK. GOD.

There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Not much longer now.

But things wouldn’t be interesting unless there were challenges thrown into the mix right at the end.

We are down an accountant.

She’s been having problems with her back that finally landed her in the emergency room and down for the count.

My partner in crime, aka helps me do everything I need to do, was out most of yesterday and will be out most of today, due to a big project she is in charge of at her other job.

We have had a string of high school kids helping with the admin stuff, which has been helpful, although I have to prep everything and instruct as we go.

Luckily they are smart kids and aim to please.

Positive note, my boss commented on my partner in crime and I’s work ~ You guys make one hell of a team! It is amazing, not one mistake has been made!

I am hopeful these sentiments will be expressed in the raise that I am due on the other side of tax season.

So tired, I don’t even dream about tax season anymore, that is how over it I am now.

On a positive note, I am able to open my window at work, so daily I get to feel and smell the freedom that I will soon be experiencing firsthand.

So as you enjoy your beautiful and sunny weekend, please keep those less fortunate (aka all accounting firm peeps) in your thoughts and prayers.

Oh, and enjoy your weekend (for all of us)!!

A little visual.

This is you…..

Let’s Get It Started!

I fell off the fitness band wagon.

Not only did I fall off, I got run over and left for dead.

I haven’t done anything since my Valentine’s Day weekend workshops.

Silly things like the winter from hell that won’t go away and tax season got in my way.

I now officially have a Buddha belly, and not in a good way.

I also have a little bit more squishiness going on in place that I didn’t even know I had.

Therefore, I declare today as rededication to having a great summer body I don’t care how close we are to April 15th this has got to happen day.

Even if the end results don’t start showing up until late-August, this is gonna be my summer!! hahaha

The Perfect Day!

My kitchen faucet broke this morning.

But it is ok.

I had to wash my dishes in the bathtub.

But it is ok.

I got a little talking to by one of my bosses this morning.

But it is ok.

He was mistaken, and I was semi-nice about it.

That’s how you get during tax season.

So what made today a perfect day?

I got off at 11:30, got to take a nap AND zip all around town and back with the top down in this…..

I love the DC Metro area roads on a weekend when the weather is nice!

If you see a little yellow car pass you on 495, 395 or the George Washington Parkway….it is probably me as I make my oh yeah, I absolutely love owning a convertible and can drive loops for hours.

Bonus, a client gave me $100 cash just because!

Aka, the perfect day.

And yes, not having to wait around for a maintenance guy to stop by to fix my faucet at some time today was well worth having to wash my dishes in the bathtub until Monday!!

I didn’t even call them.

Didn’t want to ruin my perfect day.

Spring Training

It is supposed to snow Sunday night, and Monday.

I am a little bit over winter, as well as are most.

Here’s hoping this is our last tangle with snow.

I am going to think of it as….
