Be Warned: Selfie Stick User in Training

Holy smack-a-doodle, I own a selfie stick!

I know unbelievable, right?

It is so unbelievable that the 16-year-old girl who sold it to me really did ask – Um, this is for you?

Yeah it is for me, that is how I roll!

And then I couldn’t figure out how to use the damn thing, so into my drawer it went.

Until I busted it out yesterday because I am documenting my daily fitness actions (much to my Facebook friends delights! Read: Um, not really.) as I work on losing 25ibs.

Needing to lose 25ibs sucks.

Being a weight that I have never been before, sucks even more!

But if it doesn’t go down now, it will only go up from here.

Um.  Not an a option.

I can truly sympathize with people who are overweight and working on losing it.

It is extremely frustrating, and can be downright depressing that it takes so long to see the changes you are working so hard to create.

Now, back to my handy-dandy new selfie stick.

I knew exactly what to do with my selfie stick; ask a couple of someones younger than me how to use it. Bingo!!

The fruits of my labor from yesterday…..

What?! It can only get better from here!

Speaking of fitness, I earned a pretty nifty badge from FitBit yesterday.

250 miles covered thus far!

And I have done that in just under two months.

I am pretty happy and proud of that.

Other great news, I will be working out with a personal training this coming Monday!

I am pretty happy and proud of that too.

But ask me again at 7am on Monday, since I am meeting him at 6am.

I might feel differently AFTER meeting with him! hahaha

Happy Valentine’s Day! Spend It With The One(s) You Love.

Media deprivation.

Have you ever tried it?

I mean on purpose.

I have.

I first learned about it years ago when I read Julia Cameron’s book The Artist Way.

One of the assignments was to unplug for a week.

No TV, no emails, no internet, no phone calls, no reading, no music with words, nothing that would input information into your life outside of your own beautiful mind.

And let me tell you, it was great!

You would not believe how much time you have on your hands, or all of the things you can get done or free yourself up to think about, write about and try.

I decided that’s how I would like to spend my Valentine’s Day weekend.

With myself.

With my creative self.

With my spiritual self.

With my organizing get things straight before tax season really hits self.

It is easy for me to stay away from my computer.

I can turn it off, put it in the closet and not see it again until Sunday evening.

But since I have a smart phone, I had to take it one step further.

I deleted my personal and work email accounts from my phone so I wouldn’t be tempted

I can put them back on Sunday evening too.

And I don’t get Facebook alerts on purpose anyway, so I am safe there.

Now I have all the time in the world to spend Valentine’s Day with someone who I think is important and special – me.  And by doing this, I’ll have a better me to share with others.

Whether you are single or a couple, I hope you unplug a little today and really connect with another – whether that be yourself, your mate, your family – whatever area of your life that needs a little more love and attention.

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Spend It With The One(s) You Love.

Dating 102: Not Going Any Better Than Dating 101

So things have changed since my post Dating 101: My Starbucks Lover.

Starbucks Lover did email me back, this time saying a whole bunch but not really saying anything at all, like…this is what I do for a living.

Which I was looking for since that was one of the things I asked him.

I decided to get a guy’s perspective so I emailed the conversation from the beginning to a guy friend of mine this time.

Poor Starbucks Lover, he certainly would not be emailing with me if he knew I was sending them to my sister and guy friend for feedback. hahaha

But he’s a complete stranger, so having others in the mix on my side, well that is just the way I went.

I have mentioned my Starbucks Lover in a couple of posts on Facebook, one joking about asking him to go with me to see the movie Fifty Shades of Grey.

And my guy friend sent me a message behind the scenes.

Here’s our conversation….

Him: Dude…..I don’t want to rain on your parade but, do you know if SBL is in some kind of relationship? He never answered the job question and never gave forth any details about his living quarters…..only that he has a son and has an ex (am I reading your blog correctly)? or with a roommate etc…..some guys don’t mention significant others unless they are asked directly…. Just saying….. Trying to look out for you.

**Disclaimer: I did not ask about his living quarters or situation.**

Me: Dude, you are a mind reader. I was thinking on the way home – this dude is either married or in a relationship and neither of those options work for me. hahaha

Him: Well…..I got to thinking ….and he was gun shy and kinda reluctant to give info freely…..I hear Ya ….I hope neither are the case ….

Me: It doesn’t matter. It is not that I hope he is the one, because he is not, I can’t date anyone named Rolfe. What is cool is that I stayed open enough to talk with him in person and email with him. I am making progress!!! hahaha

And my statement is true.  I don’t think he is “the one.”  I am not your average girl.  I am not saying all girls are like this, but many are, they very much want to be part of a couple that they will latch on to the first dude on the scene.

For me it really was, wow that is so cool.  I met a cute guy, we talked, we had similar interests, there was a spark or a flicker of something and it gave me something fun to talk about on Facebook.

Plus I really did open up and give someone a chance.

Several guys have tried to start-up conversations over the years, and I wasn’t opened or interested, so it didn’t get very far.

But I am sorry, if you are married or in a relationship, I don’t care who you are, I am not interested.

If you are married be married.  If you are in a relationship be in a relationship.  If you are unhappy, then get out of it.

But don’t try to play both sides.  Karma isn’t kind.

And if your name is Rolfe, which I had to ask – um, did you say Ralph??? – well that just doesn’t flow easily off the tongue and it was doomed from the start! hahaha

Seriously, that is the first thought that came to mind when he said – No. Rolfe.

And I am very sorry if your name is Rolfe.

It is a cool name.

I just can’t say it without me tongue getting tied, and it doesn’t go well with Lisa. hahaha

Holy Mother of Squat!

I am two days (today and tomorrow) away from completing my first ever 30 day fitness challenge!

I have worked out for the last 28 days straight following a doable little bit here little bit there kinda program.

And I gotta be honest, if I didn’t have fellow peeps doing it with me and checking in via Facebook, well I am pretty sure I would have gotten bored with it doing it all by myself and let it fall to the wayside by about day 5.

But instead I have completed the following:

Push-ups: 513

Squats: 1580

Crunches: 1776

Lunges: 819

Cardio: 6 hours and 45 mins

I went from zero to hero in my world!

It has been such a success that we are doing another one, a different one, next month and we have had a couple of new people express interest in joining.

And that is what has been going on in my world.

That and I occasionally pat my body down and think…Holy Bleep….it’s working!!!

WOW, This is What Being in Your 40s Looks Like in My World!!

First, soaking in a sea salt bath really does right the wrongs of airbrush tanning mishaps.

Or perhaps it was a combination of that and exfoliating some more.

Either way, I am golden and I have baby soft skin.

Which was timely and great because yesterday, I had the *best* experience!

Drum roll please…..

Acrobatics Yoga!!!

I didn’t think to take pictures until the end.

Oh well, hopefully there will be more to come.

The workshop was three hours long, and I loved every minute of it.

Towards the end I did get a little fatigued because I was offering up my services to be the base for a couple of muscular dudes.

I was pretty impressed with how strong I am being that I am little and don’t lift weights or anything.

The last couple of runs though, mid-lifting, I was like, yeah, this so isn’t happening anymore, someone help him off, like now, or this is going to end badly for both of us!!!

As I added the photos to my facebook page, I saw other photos and I had a thought….

WOW, this is what being in your 40s looks like in my world!!

Just think what would happen if I got focused!!

I am so looking forward to my Aerial Yoga Teacher’s Training in early July.

And who knows, perhaps this is the way one becomes focused.

I am feeling pretty happy, and a little sore, but mostly Oh So Happy!!

Saying Thank You

images65PMAD6H

I am grateful for…..

The many years I had with Caesar.

I am grateful for…..

The love, support, calls, gifts and kind words

from my family, friends, the people I work with,

and the people I have met through blogging.

I am grateful that…..

It is tax season and I am busy.

I am grateful that…..

My heart is still open, and one day in the future,

I will adopt a new cuddle buddy.

I am grateful and I just wanted to say…..

Sad Self-Realization Day: I Have the Attention Span of a Gnat!

It is a sad, sad day for me.

Over the last week I have been having an epiphany.

And yes, it has taken me a week to have an epiphany because I have been realizing that I have the attention span of a gnat.

What helped me realize this?

Facebook.

I have a small circle of friends on Facebook because I only want to be friends with people I actually know, and thus care about knowing what’s going on in their lives.

But I have noticed that when I click on something someone has shared, I either see how long the written piece is or how long the clip is before I jump in.

I have had thoughts of Holy Crap that video is 5 minutes long or Holy Schmoly there has got to be at least 500 words there!

5 minutes or 500 words can be very long or very short.

It is relative to the moment at hand.

I like to read Facebook in the morning.

I have been making an effort to slow down and see what people have shared.

It’s like my morning newspaper.

I read a piece in which the author stated up front that she has been known to be very wordy.

After reading the piece, I really wished I had taken her at her word and just skimmed the article.

But the thing is, there are so many cool things that you can learn just by investing some time.

Like I watched a video about what sugar does to your brain.

Now drinking my morning frap is a bit more difficult to enjoy, but I am wiser nonetheless.

I also watched a child’s video project about pesticides used on vegetables that make me so wish I had the money to go organic all the way!

So the short of it is, because it seems that I can be a bit wordy too, I don’t want to have the attention span of a gnat.

So I am slowing some stuff down on purpose in this fast paced world.

And I found the Ultimate Test for my one and only when our paths meet…

Internet

And for those counting….this post is less than 500 words.
