Have you ever tried it?
I mean on purpose.
I first learned about it years ago when I read Julia Cameron’s book The Artist Way.
One of the assignments was to unplug for a week.
No TV, no emails, no internet, no phone calls, no reading, no music with words, nothing that would input information into your life outside of your own beautiful mind.
And let me tell you, it was great!
You would not believe how much time you have on your hands, or all of the things you can get done or free yourself up to think about, write about and try.
I decided that’s how I would like to spend my Valentine’s Day weekend.
With my creative self.
With my spiritual self.
With my organizing get things straight before tax season really hits self.
It is easy for me to stay away from my computer.
I can turn it off, put it in the closet and not see it again until Sunday evening.
But since I have a smart phone, I had to take it one step further.
I deleted my personal and work email accounts from my phone so I wouldn’t be tempted
I can put them back on Sunday evening too.
And I don’t get Facebook alerts on purpose anyway, so I am safe there.
Now I have all the time in the world to spend Valentine’s Day with someone who I think is important and special – me. And by doing this, I’ll have a better me to share with others.
Whether you are single or a couple, I hope you unplug a little today and really connect with another – whether that be yourself, your mate, your family – whatever area of your life that needs a little more love and attention.
Happy Valentine’s Day! Spend It With The One(s) You Love.
