Not too long ago, a former boss of mine likened me to Rapunzel in the Disney movie Tangled, and before that, a former IT dude/friend of mine.

When I come a calling, people have been known to spontaneously exclaim….Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!

And if I could find a way to do it, I would.

It seems my energy is what people want, and I have yet to be able to bottle that up and sell it.

If one day I can find a way to do that, then I might find a way to be rich and happy!! hahaha

My swimming mediation this morning turned into an hour-long deep water aerobic workout instead.

There was a senior class going on, so I asked if I could join, and I rocked it like a champ!

And inspired at least two in the process.

To even things up, I did my workout without the floatation belt and I was in heaven.

Later, when asked what I do to keep in shape, I honestly said ~ I do the gentle things….walking, yoga and swimming.

Unless I have some built up tension and then this fish has got to get it on, but can do so without showing off or making anyone feel less than me.

See I am not competitive.

Although I should be, so then I would not be so damn frustrated when things don’t go my way! hahaha

Plus, there are cycles….any of us can be totally able to rock something one day and then totally suck at it on other days.

No matter our age.

But I do love when I accidentally stumble across a free class and get to focus solely on me and working out.

I needed to win it this morning……because sooner or later, I will be back at the I totally suck at this (or something else) because that is the nature of life.

Gotta love life’s cycles! hahaha

A View From The Top

When things become a little overwhelming for me due to frustrations outside of my control, I need a view from the top.

I have been to many, many different rec centers in the DC metro area over the years (aka I was somehow involved in one of their programs – teaching or learning).

Yet there is one that is my absolute favorite because……it has a big ass deep end!

I love swimming in deep waters, especially the chlorine and crystal clear variety.

I do swim in the ocean too, but it is not quite as stress free because sharks freak me out beyond belief, and will until the day I die, so in my heart I am a pool girl through and through. hahaha

So this morning I am going to get a view from the top, and dive deep and get a view from the bottom, and swim through the middle to view everything left and right of me.

It is called a swimming mediation.

And I get to leave the pool with red and puffy eyes due to the chlorine, but at least it won’t be from crying.

I already did that last night, so I am going into my adventure looking like I just swam 15 miles! hahaha

Changing jobs is like going through a break-up, and this is how I honor the changes going on in me and my life.

I feel it out.

And then I get active.
